Removing RV mirror mounting tab

IH all,
I'm going to be replacing the OEM rear view mirror & mount in my '77 Scout 
II. And replacing it with a new GM style with map lights. This will require a 
trip to the autoparts store to get the correct (GM style) mounting tab and 
removing the one IH used.

Any ideas on the best way to remove the IH mounting tab?
