Did you mean the the solenoid.. which is technically also a relay? I
*think* our ammeters are at least +-30 amps (should be more, my alts are
61)... wouldn't think that the neutral start relay could draw that much
current.
I did have similar behavoir.. but it's relevant to the "bonehead" files, not
Mike's problem. I had spent quite a while tuning up the truck in a
Landryesque fashion... which required using a remote starter switch.
Well, after a while I had that puppy purring. So I let it warm all the way
up to temp. Finally I shut it off.
A few minutes later, I tried to start it. I turned the key and got nothing
but a pegged ammeter. (Being the software guy that I am, I of course tried
it at least twice more).
Well, the long and the "short" of it was that the remote starter wire-still
clipped on- had melted to the exhaust manifold. At least it wasn't the hot
side.
