Subject: stuff we don't have in common

But when it comes to good looking machinery, you have to go back about a
hundred years. Back to when folks were proud of the machines, and
expected
them to last a few generations. Stuff with lots of brass & art deco
inspired shapes. Some of that stuff is still being used today.

Ah!You should work where I work.I'm a lift(elevator) mechanic.I love
working on the really old gear. Some of their electro-mechanical ways of
getting around limited technology are truly works of art.Anyone who's
seen a 1930's Otis floor selector(stands about 5' high)will know what I
mean.
And they actually *pay* me to fiddle around with this stuff!

*UPDATE*
I finally found some brake drums for my ASW120 4X4.For helping a bloke
change cabs between a C-1300 and an AB180,he's giving me an AA120 4X4.
Perfect rust-free cab,good 201 t/c,44 front (gears shagged),no engine or
gearbox.
Might put some later mechanicals in this one.Just happen to have a
rebuilt 360 Rambler motor in the shed.Wonder what disc front I could get
in Australia......F-250?Easy to get aftermarket wheels for.......

Jed.
