hydraulic jacks and lumber

Ken,

So you carry a 3-ton bottle jack around with you?  Where do you carry
it?  Also, this may be a dumb question, but what do you use a 2x8 for? 
It's not strong enough to use as a lever to actually lift a corner of a
scout is it???
