Yep, my last hot-start problems were with a spring in the starter.  In fact,
I was able to lightly tap the side of the starter and then start it when
this occured.  I guess that loosened up the spring.  Be careful if you try
this though, I think the starter is plastic, and you could wreck it if you
hit it too hard.  My situation is a little worse than some due to the
headers right next to the starter, then again, most starters seem to be
garbage.
