Dan,

When Hofs was talking about the exhaust residue that was before cats.
With a catalytic converter it doesn't work the same.  I've not figured out
how to read the exhaust since cats.

Probably 1000 - 1500 miles for initial break-in before towing a trailer.
I'd run at different speeds. Don't run at a steady speed during break in.
City driving is the best.  You don't get to cruse for hours at a steady
speed.  I'd change the oil at 1000 miles and then again at 2000.  After
that just change it as usual.
