Dead Scout

Mike,

That sure sounds like a dead alternator. First I thought plugged fuel
filter, then maybe a failing fuel pump. But now, cause of the clicking,
and short runs till it dies, i'm thinking bad alternator. A bad
alternator lets your battery run down. Eventually, the Scout loses power
and die. Once the battery has sat for a little while, the Scout will
start and run until the battery loses it's charge again. This process
will go on for a while until there isn't enough left in the battery to
start the Scout. Charge the battery, and see if it starts and runs. And
check to see if the alternator is charging.

Don't forget to check the fuel filter, and fuel pump. And check the
dipstick and see if gas is getting into the oil pan. If it is, bad fuel
pump.

Good luck!

Ken
