LR vs. Scout.
Mark,
I know a guy witha diesel, RHD LR pickup, and it's great off road. The
problem is: They are aluminum, so it's a bit tougher to work on than steel.
Parts are non-existent in the desert SW, and labor is super hard for anything.
The aluminum body makes it great for side slopes and climbs, just that they are
so hard to work on and hard to get parts for, and don't have much power. It
will get you there, don't get me wrong, just that the cost isn't justified.
Around here the wagons (of course) go for around $6500 - $8000. I'd buy a few
year old Cherokee for that before I'd buy a 25 year old LR. Sorry.
The scout is more powerful, cheaper to maintain, has less chick-magnet
effect, usually under $2000, and your friends can help you work on it, since
they'll kinda have an idea what's in there. With the LR I didn't know what have
the little gizmos were. Good luck,
-Joel

Joel et al,
I think I have asked this before ...but here I go again ...
have you considered an old mid 60s Land Rover Series 2/2A?
I recently drove an old Land Rover and I am curious of your
thoughts on these vehicles and how they stack up to the Scout2.
Comments please?
Mark
