Re: Starter Questions

Michael,
   I don't know if this is what you are experiancing, but; here is a
story I experianced this month.
   On Bad, once I had the new carb installed and had it running, I had
to jump it to start the truck. If not then when I would turn the key I
would get a arcing buzzing kinda sound and the engine would crank REALLY
slowly. I assumed the starter was bad so I bought a new starter. I also
boght a new battery. I put the battery in first and took the old battery
and put it in Good. When I tried to turn Good over, I got the same
arcing buzzing engine turning really slowly thing as Bad was doing. This
piqued my curiosity so I went back to Bad, now with a new battery, and
turned the key. The truck spun ight over with plenty of speed and no
buzzing sounds. The problem was that the battery that was in Bad and now
is in Good is shot. there wasn't enough power to spin the starter, but;
I could run lights and the radio without a problem. It seemes that the
cold cranking amps had been used up. So, try another battery in the WM
first before swapping starters.
