Ken: The dash lights cut out when you turn the key because all the "juice" is going elsewhere. Your problem isn't the "gold box" that is just an electronic ignition control. Your problem sounds more like, dead battery, bad connections, ignition switch problems, starter solenoid problems or maybe the famous bulk head connector. Tom H.
