OK, so *how* do you scatter timing gears? I remember reading on TechTalk
a few weeks ago about someone else losing their timing gears... what's
up? I thought timing *gears* were all but indestructible.. particularly
compared to "lesser" vehicle's chain systems..

Joel,

I got a full transfer case gasket kit from a place called Idaho
Transmission.. under $20 for the complete set (this includes the shifter
seals, transfer case "pan" seal, etc).. not sure where my contact
information ran off to..

I recally that Hicks 4x4 in California sells a lot of Dana 20 parts as
well.. John Landry purchased a complete Dana 20 kit from them.

Others have reported good results just using RTV. My Scout's transfer
case currently sports an RTV gasket.. heck, I used some Permatex to hold
the broken fragments of transfer case in place for my 120 mile limp home
a month ago.. (I've since put a spare 'case in, using Permatex for the
gasket).
