Those finned locking hubs were on my original '67 800 Dana 27 front end. 
In fact I'm using one on my current Dana 30 front end.  Internally they're
a little different.  I imagine they'd fit on a 44.  I don't know if they're
rare or not.  

If they're cheap enough you might want to have them just for the coolness
factor.  The fins are kind of neat.
