MECHANICAL VS ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS

My Scout arrived with an electric pump.  I don't know why.  But I cleaned 
up the connections and mounted it securely to the frame near the tank.
I have not had any problems with it.  No vapor lock either, even when it 
got hot enough under the hood to melt the P/S dipstick.
