Your right! What Tom is describing is "throttle bog". Most common cause,
too big of carb so engine "bogs" when you punch carb open and too much
air gets in.

But, my '76 Holley 2210C is adjustable, as far as the accelerator pump.
You can move the connecting rod into one of several slots to change the
stroke on the pump. Hence, you can move it up one to give a little
faster squirt. That might help. Plus, Holley has accelerator pump kits
where you can change the spring and or the whole accelerator pump for a
larger or quicker shot. Either might help in Tom's case.
