Points failure



Not IH vehicles, but I've had 2 sets of points that the tip just broke on (mebbie 6500 RPM had something to do with it), and I've heard of rubbing blocks falling off.

However, the "point" he made was basically right <g>, if you let them degrade enough the failure you get is usually that it won't start, which is better than it quitting at 65mph.

I do suspect that, since points haven't been OE equipment for a long time, that quality will become very uneven and failure like I saw may be more common.
