1977 Tilt Steering Wheel

Greetings,

Does anyone here on the list have a 1977 Scout II with a factory tilt steering
wheel?

If so, can you tell me the date of manufacture of the truck (from the data
plate in the door frame) and if it has a key lock on the steering column. The
key lock is the lever that you have to press in order to rotate the lock
tumbler to off so you can remove the ignition key. The key lock mechanism
also locks the steering wheel from turning when the ignition key tumbler is in
the off position.

I have a pre-December 1976 manufactured tilt steering column, and it's doesn't
have the key lock lever on the side nor does the steering wheel lock from
turning. I'm wondering if this is normal or did someone previously remove the
parts for some unknown reason.

The IH parts manual seems to indicate that possibly there was a change from
non-locking to locking tilt steering columns in 1976, so I'm just trying to
verify what I have.

Thanks,

John
