Re: I will be needing a Scout...

Welcome!

Basic tune-up, engine and drive train repair parts are available through
and good auto parts store. The NAPA chain has earned a reputation for
being pretty good about even finding some of the more obscure parts you'd
never imagine them having.

You'll soon learn that parts not readily available through normal auto
parts channels can be scrounged pretty easily at wrecking yards or simply
over the IHC Digest. I've obtained several parts from other members of the
Digest. Parts are traded or sold all of the time. On the Binder Bulletin
mentioned on the URL above, there are free classified ads you can browse to
find anything you want.

Also, there are many good new and used IH part dealers around the country
with such names as Super Scout Specialists, Scout Madness, Giddem Up
Scouts, Vintage Intl. Parts, Howteron, etc. that maintain inventories of
everything from a switch to a whole body. Again, check the Binder Bulletin
web site for names and web links.

Getting parts is not in general a problem... you just aren't going to march
down to a dealer around the corner and get them. If in doubt, ask on the
Digest and you'll soon learn the ins and outs. Surf the IH related web
sites... follow the "Web Ring" links from the Binder Bulletin.

And for the cost of a Hummer, you can buy maybe 10 to 20 Scouts!

Take care,

John
