266 Heads

Yeah, seems like I really stirred something up when I asked this one! Anyway,
it is with good reason though. I've known about head swapping of 345 heads on
a 392 ever since I first visited Jim Weed's page about a year and a half ago.
Seems like a good concept. I know my 152 is 8:1 compression. How much (if the
swap would actually work) of a compression boost could be expected from
putting a 266 head on my 152? I don't really mind the fact that the valves are
smaller on 266 heads. Seems to me that would be good for low end torque even
though it would rob top end power somewhat. 'Course, I have located
turbocharger equipment which I **DO** plan on buying if the owner doesn't sell
it first. He is a fellow Scouter though, and I doubt I have anything to worry
about. This would correct the inherent top end power of the torque yet
"horsepowerly challenged" slant 4. With these two additions to my engine (head
swap????, turbo????) I think I could get my 100 h.p. 160 ft. lb. beast up to
~135 h.p. and maybe 200 ft. lbs., which would be nice. My only concern is that
my wengine might self destruct. Any comments? I personally wouldn't even
consider raising my compression over 9:1. I have no idea what type of power
boost this would yeild. Maybe "milling" the heads would be a better way to go,
no? Anyway, comments would be appreciated... Thanks,

P.S.- no John Landry, I'm not going to be swapping to .5 gears! <<teethy
