Pre-Luber

Hey folks,

My father ordered a bunch of prelube pumps for use on some of his
construction equipment. I might be able to "try one out" first if I get
stuck installing them for him. The directions with the pumps show two
common methods for connecting it--One is using a spacer between the
housing and the oil filter which has a port for the pump to pull the oil
out of. The other is using a special oil drain plug which has a fitting
for the input hose of the pump. Both methods use a tee in the oil
pressure sender to return the oil to the engine.

First off, is there a port on the IH V-8 where I can pull oil for the
pump besides using the above methods? I know there is a plug on the
block on the opposite side from the oil sender. I'm assuming this is
also for an oil pressure sender and I might put the return there.

Next, is the spin-on oil filter a full flow type or is it a bypass
filter(or a full flow with a bypass if the filter is clogged)?

Are there specific brands of filters which incorporate a check valve so
that the oil doesn't drain back down the oil passages?

If anyone is interested, I can get these pumps for about half of what
they list for in Summit Racing. They have a one minute prelube time and
an adjustable 0-6 post lube time. Can also be set up with a manual
switch and valve for quick oil changes.
