I don't remember if you need ignition for this, but pulling on the 
interior door handle triggers central locking to unlock the car. If yours 
doesn't do this with ignition off, run 12V to the central locking computer 
and than it should.

You don't need to touch the lock.
Call your local BMW dealer with your VIN and they will either cut the new 
key locally or if your car has EWS have them cut and coded in Germany.
