E36 emissions

My '92 325i failed the emissions for having a high HC from unburnt fuel. The
O2 sensor, plugs, coils, are only 6 mos old. What else could it be? I did
notice that the technician must have accidentally put the AC on! Could the
fuel enrichment from the AC cause it to fail?
