Talk to Rod Birch at www.caraudioinnovations He is very knowledgeable on
BMW and Porsche audio. BMW sound systems are a pain because of the floating
ground. Check out the Crutchfield site. Good info on those types of sound
systems.
When I replaced my stock unit, I thought about the Blaupunkt unit myself but
ended up going with Kenwood. My understanding is that Blaupunkt's quality
has suffered a major decline in recent years.
The Kenwood as the cool D-mask feature that swings the face of the unit
around when you turn off the ignition. All you see is a blank plate. Also,
the Kenwood allows you to change colours to match your dash colours. My
unit had green or red but I think now they have 16 or more colour choices.
Good luck.
