E34 Spark plugs

I have a 1994 540i with about 75k miles.  Some time back I installed the
Bosch + 4 plugs but now several people have said that I should replace them
for the "standard" plugs.  Even my independent mechanic has advised me to do
this.  What advise can the listserv give me in reference to this?  What is
the generally accepted plug for this car?
