E30 M3 Wing

Does anyone know if a E30 M3 rear wing fits a regular E30 (a ic if it
matters).  I already called the seller and he told me that it doesn't fit
because the M3 trunk lid is wider that a regular E30. I know that but I was
wondering if it was possible, and not looking too ugly, to install a kind
of steel plate underneath the wing, toward the inside, to bolt to the
trunk. Or, if it's not going to weaken the wing too much, may be cut it and
make it shorter??
