Actually, the 4.0L V8 is NOT a version of the M62, but a brand new
Motorsport only engine from the ground up.  It will be used as soon
as BMW AG finishes it.  Its main purpose is to allow BMW to compete
in DTM again.  The current engine used at Daytona in the Bell/Jet
Motorsports M3 is a very lightly modified production M5 engine.
All of this info per Tom Milner @ PTG.  I watched them prepping
the M5 motor last weekend.
