My advice...Don't Do It!  find a car with stick.....actually, I have heard 
the autos on the iX's are "better" for plodding along in the snow <g>.

Pulling an E30 transmission (even without swapping the type) is entering 
"Transmission Hell"....the worst car I've ever seen to work on a transmission.
