<E28> Dash

I have an 87 535is, red with black interior, in which the dash is cracked.
I plan on finding a new (used) dash that is in good shape.  So here is my
question.  What suggestion do you digesters have regarding keeping the dash
from cracking again?  I keep the car in the garage and have a window shade
up when the car is outside.  Texas sun is a quite hard on everything.  The
car is now a semi-daily driver.
