<E30> <BMW's> Driving Habits

Shifting-
When do you shift? When I was test driving 325's ("i", "is") 3 owners asked
me to "please shift the car". Every car is different of course but with my
528e I found it ran very nice in the higher RPM range (what use is 4th gear
anyway), say 3500-4000. The red zone is at 6500 or so, and I have never
cruised above 4000rpm, I just use that as my gauge to shift to 5th. In
driving my 325is, which has a Jim C. chip (does this mean I am sharked?) I
notice the car actually feels, uh, hungry, eager when it hits 4000rpm (mpg
really drops here) but at this point I experience some serious acceleration.
Am I committing a cardinal sin here, as a high revver? To me the car sounds
great and drives great.

I need to get the serial number off my chip, as meticulous a record keeper
the previous owner was I am lacking any info on this item.

Fog Lights-
Many BMW's have these on, well, all the time. I almost feel embarrassed to
use them. However if visibly is the key to avoiding accidents I always see
that BMW with the damn fog lights on. And the other day it was dark and
rainy, the road was hard to see. So I punched the fogs and presto! I could
see. Fog lights are useful.
