BMW alarm system

I ordered my 328Ci the other day and told them to put the BMW alarm
in. Since it won't be installed until it gets here, I have some time
to confirm if that's the way I want to go, and I was interested in
what others have installed in their cars.
I imagined there would be problems installing a 3rd party alarm due
to the coded keys, daytime running lights, delayed headlight off,
etc. This was $495 installed and supposedly includes a siren (not the
horn), door, hood, trunk sensors, glass break detection, and some
form of motion sensing inside. No shock sensor, but I think that
simply leads to false alarms.
This all sounds ok and I like the idea of having the controls on the
key, however I don't want to compromise the safety of the stereo
equipment I intend to have custom installed. Can someone tell me if
the BMW system is good or if I should keep looking at 3rd party
systems?
I have many other questions, but I'll ask in moderation... :-)
