Problems with the central locking of my '94 525i.
A broken hinge at the drivers side door
 latch (the one inside the car that you pull on to open the door) allowed
the latch to move slightly out of alignment. This caused some of the door
locks to stay unlocked, or to partially lock and pop back open immediately
after turning the key to lock the car.
Pushing the door lever back into its correct position (even if the plastic
retainer is cracked) restored the cars locking function.
