RE:The Certified Pre-Owned Debate

First let me say, I have no experience with buying a Certified Pre-Owned
vehicles.
In fact, the ones I looked at when I wanted to buy a 740 were not worth
purchasing.
I would take them home for the day, jack them up and in general go over them
with a fine tooth comb.

That is my point.
Think about it!!
The dealer has a previously owned near perfect car that is well maintained
by the previous owner.
So, what would you think the dealer would do the enable the high book resale
value of this vehicle? Wash it, other than that, its condition will sell
itself!!
So, now let's assume the dealer also has an abused less than perfect body
previously owned car of the same model year and make that has no record of
maintenance from the BMW Financial lease program.
So, what would you think the dealer would do to enable the high book resale
value of this vehicle? That right!! Perform an inspection, write an extended
warranty (they are certified to inspect the vehicle and write the policy,
now someone else is responsible for the wreck), do a cosmetic recondition
and offer It For Sale at top dollar as a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle.
