Hi Aaron,
Your new brakes will need time to bed in. A couple hundred miles and a
few hard stops should do the trick. Another thing to consider is that
the stock pads probably have a higher friction coefficient than the
M.M.'s do, therefore you have to push harder on the brakes to slow the
car down. The stock pads also seem to work better than other pads when
cold. Some performance oriented pads need some heat in them before they
start to work well. The trade off is that the MM pads will tolerate
higher temps than the stock pads will, they may last a little longer and
they don't dust the wheels as much. For a street car, it's tough to
beat the stock pads. Yes, they dust the wheels pretty good, but they
stop the car like it's been run into a sand dune and that's their job.
Pads for the track are another story.......
