anyone replace 325e clutch fan with electric?

I'm interested in hearing any comments, pros, cons, for installing an
electric fan in place of the clutch fan on my 1986 325 e30.  It looks like
it has to be pretty slim, and about 16" diameter, and might still make it
tough to replace the distributor cap later on.  I like the improvement this
has made on other vehicles though.

Perhaps I can just tap into the same switch that turns on the auxiliary fan,
with a relay?

Any thoughts on this, directly or on list?  TIA
