Anti-Theft Code needed for radio

I have a friend with a '90 325isa who recently disconnected the battery and 
now the anti-theft system is engaged on his radio.  He needs to put in the 
code to reset his radio, however, he is the second owner of the car and he 
did not get the code from the original owner.  Without going to the dealer, 
is there any other way to bypass this system?   TIA.
