G'day all, thanx 4 your helpful replies...
I've read in digest archive  that is safe 2 cut the drive belt 4 the
power steering so it would become manual; I think E30's r lite cars and
a benefit of 3-5kW may b good...can I simply remove all ps components
except the actual steering box and cover all hose openings? 
Also my car is equipped with air con, I was considering removing the
whole system - what weight saving would I gain by doing that? and power?
