Re: synthetic oil and leaks...



John,

What a coincidence!  How much do you trust your mechanic?  Go underneath the 
car with a socket and torque wrench and tighten up the bolts holding the oil 
pan onto the engine block.  That may be all that you need.

Now, you don't suppose that the mechanic loosened up any bolts, do you?

I recently bought a '93 525iT with 53k miles and began putting synthetic oil 
into it without any laking problems.  I also own an '85 318i and began 
putting synthetic oil into it at around 60k miles (1990), and it didn't have 
any leaking problems, either.
