(A couple questions)
[First time I've been stranded in my car since I bought it 100,000 miles
& 2 1/2 years ago)
(1) Does anyone have any tips for replacing the alternator belt on a
'91 318iS ?
(2) Does anyone have a diagram handy of how this thing goes on ?
(Unfortunately, mine is no longer on my car and it's position
on my kitchen table tells me NOTHING about how it really goes on.)
(While it's mentioned in both Chilton & Bentley E30 repair manuals
neither comes with a diagram for the M42 engine (Of course,
the Bently doesn't have ANYTHING related to the M42 engine....)
This must be something SO simple that it doesn't require pictures...
(3) What does it mean when all (except the oil light) lights come
on when the alternator belt breaks & the temperature gage heads
into the red (by which point I had pulled over & turned it off...)
[What did I potentially damage... ? I had it towed home... where it
sits in my driveway.... my only transportation (ouch..!)
I went hunting high & low all over the Internet today (between bouts
of work) and couldn't find any info related to this subject....
(4) Where's a good place to get ALL of the belts I should replace on my car
at this point (& not just the one that broke...) Is this something
I can get anywhere ? (Though I'm hoping to have enough money
to do all of the hoses at the same time...) Or are they "special" parts ?
Any thoughts (Or offers of help %-)) would be appreciated....
Thanks....
