Hello all!
So I have a 5er that doesn't seem to want to start....
here are my symptoms...
- -*NO* ICV buzz when the key is turned to the ON position.
- -Crank, but no spark, obviously no start.
SO. Thought occurs, the ICM (Idle control module) is located on the drivers'
side of the dash. Well, I tore apart that whole region when getting the
pedals, clutch master, etc. out of the 533 to xfer to the 6er (b/c I did a
tranny swap). So, obviously I ended up disconnecting all the connectors
going to the ICM, the "CODE" box, and the chime, along with the breaker for
the windows, and the cabin temp. sensor. So, I start looking around....
BINGO, a 2-pin connector that is connected in series with one of the pins
going to the ICM is disconnected, so find the connecter right? Nope... I
can't find it anywhere, and while I run around trying to find the picture I
took of all those connections, maybe you guys can help!
Bottom line, here's my hypothesis...
- - I think that the ICM has something to do with the problem
- - The ICV is not buzzing (which I'm pretty sure means the DME is saying
"no-go" on something, The ICM?)
- - It worked fine before the tranny swap
- - The reference sensors SHOULD NOT cause the ICV to not buzz, but in
case you are curious, I am using the SAME ref. sensors that were on the car
to begin w/.
- - The *$(&$(*# thing won't start! I want it to!
So if you have any advice I would really appreciate. I am no stranger to
troubleshooting this SAME exact problem, but I did that on an '88 635 with
Motronic 1.1, the 5er has Motronic 1.0, a couple changes.
ALSO, I found the ICM has what looks like a removable "memory chip" on it...
anyone know what this does? Thanks in advance for ALL OF YOU HELP!!!!
