Ed, There are the things to consider, and you've covered most of them below. What I have
heard is that the offset to fit this size is smaller than stock. ie the E28 stock TRX wheel
is 20mm. I would guess in the range of 5-10mm. I know that Dinan does this with there
wheel package for the E28. The front of the rear wheel will then fit under the rolled and
trimmed fender. Yes, trimmed. I believe you'll have to trim the inner lip of both front
and rear fenders to clear. Then they use a spacer on the fronts to push the inner wheel
away from the strut.
For 255, I would go at least 8.5" width. 8" just isn't enough. You can also go as wide as
9". 9.5" is probably to much. I would suggest that you set up a form somehow with
cardboard and look at how different widths and offsets look.
