First, the x40's (V8's) debuted in 1993, so for 1989-1990 you're looking
at a 750. The E31 8-series debuted in 1991, I believe. Now, regarding
price, you'll do well to find an 8x0 for less than $35k. I suppose it
will be possible to find a thoroughly thrashed 750 for $13k, but unless
you're lucky it will require some significant maintenance. Have you
considered a 735?

See comments above. In good shape, the V12's seem to be bulletproof --
the V8's (again, only available after 1993) have a known problem through
1995 -- see the archives for info on the cylinder wall deterioration
issue.

Both the E32 and E31 are big, heavy cruisers. Granted, they will handle
better than their counterparts from other marques, but nimble is a word
not usually used to describe them. However, given that this is a very
subjective area, I suggest you form your own opinion after having driven
them.

I suggest you determine if you really want these cars, or wouldn't be
happier with something else. Certainly, your price-range quoted above
will be a significant barrier to overcome. Good luck.
