Surging 92 325i

Hello list,

I am a newbie here so plaese forgive me if this question has already
been hashed out.  Anyway my recently purchased 92 325 seems to surge at
steady light throttle cruising.  This is not entirely in ny imagination
as I can see the gas mileage gauge surge as well.  Car is a 5spd with
73,000 miles.  Any ideas?  Any help is appreciated.
