The chip does raise MPG.

Does this as it raises performance.

How.. simple.. burning the fuel more
efficiently causes BMEP and torque to
raise for a given amount of fuel and
conversely BSFC to drop (Brake Specific
Fuel Consumption) for an equal amount
of power.
