When visiting the Dingolfing plant a few years back, I got a firsthand
glimpse of how BMW views american customers.  Rather
incredulously...they refer to us as the "McDonald's market" because we
want our cars RIGHT NOW, dammit!

In European markets, you go to the dealer, choose exactly what you
want in your car, and it is custom made for you.  Waiting times of
several months are the norm.  So, it doesn't really surprise me that
BMW is a bit befuddled by our tastes...
