Practical 02's (oxymoron?)

To say that BMW has an unprecedented opportunity is not an understatement.
The hook, a new 2002 in 2002, is priceless. Not quite sure how they can
pass an opportunity like this. Cause the other German marques--P cars and
MB cars missed their chances by at least 1000 years!!! And Porsche is up to
996--only 3 new models to go!!! Mebbe they didn't want to waste a precious
# on the Boxster. When the 1600 was in development in the early 60's, did
BMW engineers forsee this opportunity? Or it is dumb luck? I too could
care less about LOTS of bells and whistles. IF they decide to produce an
02 redux, however, the cars IMHO should have A/C (optional perhaps) and
modern DME and control systems. Does it need leather? No. Premium
package? No. 4 banger? You bet (mebbe BMW stopped production of the 4
banger now to increase demand later?). All cars should be equipped with
something like a "Club Sport" package. I hope they decide to do it. I
wonder how many they'd sell? The 1600/1500/1800/2000/2002 run was, if I'm
not mistaken, was over 800,000 units worldwide. In ten years. How does
that compare in today's market? How many bubble cars is VW selling?
