E12 head without flared rocker arm

I am try to change the head on my '71 02.  The original head, 121, had 
flared rocker arms that allowed me to use a fork like gadget to depress 
the arms. The new (off of a '75) E12 head doesn't have this flare on the 
rocker arms.
Is this right or were these replaced with non-OEM?
Any good home-made ideas for depressing these arms?
