<e-30> Rattle-y instrument cluster?

OK, I'm still learning, so please forgive if this has been covered already.

I getting a thin, metallic rattling sound while driving, which sounds like
it's coming from behind the instrument cluster.  All instruments appear to
be functioning normally - no "jump" or "bounce" in either the speedometer or
tach.  This is on an 84 318i.

Anyone had this happen to them?  Is there an easy fix?  Very annoying.
