<E39> wheels on an <E28>?

I want to upgrade the standard 14" alloys on my 528e to 15".  I found a set of
15x7 OEM cross-spokes from a '97 528i with tires for $400 (with about 15K
miles on them).  I'd prefer to find a set of 15" basket-weave alloys from an
E34 535i, but the price on the E39's seems really good.  

What is the offset & bolt pattern of the E39 wheels?
Has anyone tried them on an E28?
Should I be able to find a set of 15" from an E34 535i for the same price?
