Just my story, but I've had my 17's remounted a couple of times w/o
any ill effects. In between remountings I have thoroughly abused the
crap out of them, they've been my learning to drive tires. Since May
'til now they've survived about 4 driver schools, 4 lapping events,
and about 10 or so autocrosses. They look like hell now, shoulders
are sagging, little chunks missing everywhere, nearly bald, but the
sidewalls held up well and no damage to either set of rims. The tires
are 235/40 Michelin Pilots.

Yes, I've heard you shouldn't remount low profile tires over and over
again as the sidewalls suffer but I took my chances.
