performance with an E30 325i - suggestions

Howdy,
                As the subject line says, I've an E30 325i and was wondering
on suggestions for performance upgrades.  I think I need a new chip and a
new filter set up?.  The only problem is that I reside in Australia, which
makes it just that little bit harder.  Thanks for the iminent info.
