Replace both the selector shaft seal, and the output seal. I would also
replace the guibo (flexible rubber connector between the output flange and
the driveshaft). Now is also an excellent time to rebuild your shifter if
it hasn't been done in the last 50K or so miles. There is a multitude of
info on "short" shifters out there - advice, procedures etc. Please be
very careful when you lower the driveshaft out of position. Once you
disconnect the centre driveshaft bearing support bracket, the driveshaft
can be lowered enough to damage the connector pipe between the fuel tank
halves - don't ask me how I know that.
